Maya earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Georgetown University. During her time at Georgetown, she served on the Student Advocacy Office (SAO) board, earned a fellowship with the Psychology Department’s Protective Orders Project, and, as a member of Jack Crew, cared for Georgetown’s beloved mascot, Jack the Bulldog. Maya also participated in the 2022 Cohort of Making An Exoneree, reinvestigating the case of Shanda Crain. Maya is passionate about prison reform and strives to elevate the voices of marginalized individuals along with those impacted by the U.S. criminal legal system.
