The Prisons and Justice Initiative has partnered with Strong Returns, an organization "on a mission to make prison reform the Millennial generation's issue in the 2016 election." Strong Returns has developed a Story Bank of short documentaries on individuals who have been impacted by the criminal justice and prison systems, along with short statements by experts. By storytelling and creating networks, Strong Returns hopes to translate awareness into democratic action.
Strong Returns held its inaugural event at Georgetown University in November 2014. The event featured William T. Lawson, a returning citizen from Washington, D.C. who was taught and mentored by Faculty Advisory Board member Patricia O'Connor while he was incarcerated.
